XBox 360 » Guitar Hero II » ReviewsGreatReviewed by viperxsniper on March 30, 2007 | report this review This game will be great. I have played it on PS2 and liked it. The 360 version will have extra downloadable songs as well as enhanced graphics. The only downside is that it does not have Online Multiplyer, but it will still be great. A must have for any 360 owner. GREAT GAME!Reviewed by th3_doors on April 03, 2007 | report this review This is better than the playstation 2 version, the buttons are closer and it's just more fun to play. There are a lot more songs on the Xbox 360 version, and all the songs are great! lots of funReviewed by daredevil20 on April 11, 2007 | report this review Guitar hero was a lot of fun and has a lot of awsome songs to play. This is a great game for anyone who wants a game that they can play over and over again. Awesome GameReviewed by Dukelax77 on April 29, 2007 | report this review This game is awesome. At first you might think it looks a little weird but once you start shredding you dont even care. There are awesome songs like the one and only Free Bird, Sweet Child of Mine, and many more. It does not have online multiplayer but there are still songs that you can buy from the xbox live market place. There are tons of unlockable characters, songs, guitars, guitar finishes, and songs. Overall 5/5 Awesome Game...Reviewed by KaseyKahne9 on May 14, 2007 | report this review This game is one of the best games in the world. At first i hated rock music, but now im addicted to it because of this game. The songs are awesome, and when you play on extreme its just simply AMAZING. Also on the 360 you can buy games when they release new ones, so you dont have to play the same songs all over again! The bonus songs from the shop are pretty sweet as well. =D AMAZINGReviewed by jhbrooks on June 06, 2007 | report this review When a colored circle goes down the screen, you hold the fret button that corresponds to the color and you strum when the circle goes inside the clear circle at the bottom of the screen. The game includes over 70 songs and has downloadable content ready to download for a low price online. When your about to lose or you just want some bonus score, you can tilt the guitar upwards like a rockstar to activate star power. This will make every note you hit increase you life meter dramaticly and give x2 score. When you hit 10 notes in a row your multiplier will increase to x2. Hit another 10 in a row and it will increase to x3, then to x4, then to x6, then to x8. The ultimate mission in guitar hero is to get five stars on every song, and multipliers and star power are the only way to do it. In each tier of 5 songs, you must complete 4 songs in order to try the encore song and move on to the next tier. After completing all 8 sets of songs, you can move on to the next difficulty without fear. Great GameReviewed by matta2co4 on June 19, 2007 | report this review Guitar hero is simply a great game. The best part about it is that if you practice it, you WILL get better. It has a great song selection and is just plain fun. You can play music ranging anywhere from Free Bird to modern metal. It also has great replay value. I'm pretty much done with the hard career and im still not bored with it. Although it lacks xbox live multiplayer, its a great game to sit down and play with some buddies. When you get sick of the songs that come on the game, you can go to the Live Marketplace and download more. The only downside to GH2 is that its $90 (thats the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5). Overall guitar hero is a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys music (and anyone that wishes they could play guitar =P). AmazingReviewed by tuck179 on July 02, 2007 | report this review Graphics- The graphics are really neat. The characters look matches the game perfectly. The different stages look awesome and very entertaining. Graphics get a 5/5. Gameplay- The best gameplay I have ever seen. Having a guitar to actually play the game is so amazing. It can be a little bit hard at first but just keep practicing and you will do amazing. Gameplay gets a 5/5. Storyline- There really is no storyline. Just get past each concert till you get to Free Bird. Storyline gets a N/A. Online- You can download new songs from online, unlike the PS2. There is no dueling which was a little disappointing. Online gets a 4/5. Too much fun...Reviewed by freakshow4761 on July 30, 2007 | report this review When I first purchased this game, my wife told me I was stupid for paying soo much money for a dumd video game. Then after a few days of watching me and the kids playing it, she decided to give it a try. Needless to say she fell in love, and she plays it now more than anyone ele in the house. It should be illegal to play a game that is so much fun and so addicting. Play it just once and you'll understand. Then go online and get some new tunes to play, and the game takes on all of itt's original glamour all over again. All in all, this game is great!! I highly recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like music, you will love this game!! One for the whole Family!Reviewed by LzzrdBoy on August 02, 2007 | report this review I originally wanted to pick this game bundle up locally but soon realized there was no way I was going to pay retail. With that said, I browsed on over to everyone's favorite "free game" site and picked it up for next to nothin'. Once it arrived I could barely contain my giddiness. I ripped open the box, adjusted the strap and plugged in for an evening of hammering. Once you've created your band it's off you go. I soon found myself easily adapting to the feel of the Xplorer controller and before I knew it, I was 4 songs into my easy career. Granted, easy is very easy since there's only 3 fret buttons to worry about. As you progress through easy the songs get gradually more difficult but trust me, if you stick with it you'll be finished in no time! Next it's time for medium. The addition of a 4th fret button does add some difficulty but just like easy, you'll adapt rather quickly. If you can stick it out until the end of Medium you'll be rewarded with...SPOILER...Free Bird and a stage show fitting to the song itself. Although I've only just begun to experience hard, I did manage to go back and obtain 5-star ratings on every easy and medium track. I feel this will definitely help as I progress through hard and would recommend everyone at least try to get a 5-star rating on half or more of the medium songs as you'll be glad you did in preparation for the speed and frequency of notes on hard. Like some other reviewers, my Wife was clueless as to why I wanted this game. But she quickly became addicted herself once she picked up the XPlorer. Before I knew it she'd beaten easy and was half way through medium. My 7 year old has all but mastered the medium level as well. Even my 3 year old Daughter enjoys playing around in practice mode. I can say with confidence... This is truly a game for the entire family. Even the itty bitty ones who's fingers just aren't quite long enough will get a kick out of sitting back and taking in all the action. At my home, it's a family event when I plug in my XPlorer and crank up some Janes Addiction or rip up a few bars on a bonus track. You'd think the living room became a concert hall as my little ones clap in time to the music and dance around like crazy little chickens. When it comes to pros...the controller is rockin' kewl, graphic interface and game presentation are simple to understand and follow, the store rocks more characters, outfits, axes, and tracks to keep you busy long after beating the game and the optional track downloads available from the XBL marketplace. Cons...HARD IS REALLY HARD, character prices in the store are a tad high, no wireless ax, released too close to GT III release, no online co-op or vs. mode. As I said, GT II is a great family game and provides hours upon hours of fun. Whether your decorating your XPlorer or trying to score a few bucks to buy that last bonus track, you're sure to enjoy yourself starting with the moment you put this bad boy in your 360. Thanks fo Best Game Ever!!!Guitar Hero 2 is a great game to own. It is so much fun and quite a workout if you're on Expert (one of the four difficulties). New songs on the Xbox 360 version are alright, but my favorite songs are on both the Xbox 360 version and the Playstation 2 version. This is a must have game. It's also very hard to beat on all difficulties, which is great because alot of games are not a challenge. I beat Call of Duty 3 in a day, but this will take me forever to beat. No collection is complete without this game. THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!!(until rock band)Reviewed by RV03 on August 03, 2007 | report this review this is the funnest game ever! no matter how old or young, whether you r a guy or a girl this game is fun for the whole family. right now im on expert, but the bad thing is that all of the songs get old after a while and it is a little over priced, but it is good in the long run and you can get a lot out of it to. So Addicting, this game is awesomeReviewed by a92201 on August 07, 2007 | report this review So I had the original guitar hero for PS2. I loved that game and as soon as the 2nd one came out I was itching to buy it but I did not have the money. Afterwards a 360 version was announced and I was like "OMG WTF DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT!!! ON LINE MULTI PLAYER" However of these I was kinda disappointed but read on to find out. This game is a huge improvement over the first iteration. Hammer ons and pull offs are MUCH EASIER to do from the first one. There are also much more songs. This version for 360 is also a small improvement over the Play Station 2 version. There are ten more songs exclusive to the Xbox version. The graphics are better, crisper, shinier and look very nice on my LCD TV. I actually like the songs from Guitar Hero 2 than the first one but this game has songs for many tastes. There are fewer classic rock songs but the newer songs are great. The game also features songs much challenging than the first one. Songs like Six, Jordan and Freebird are almost damn near impossible for a normal human to beat it on expert. Although I've beaten Six, and Freebird Jordan is almost impossible. A reason I've docked a point off is because of the challenge. I'm really good at the game but on some songs the jump from medium to hard and hard to expert is just too much. I have no trouble beating Jordan in hard but it's just too much on expert so an inexperienced player may be scared off and just quit the game. The Xbox 360 version features a new guitar the Gibson X-Plorer. Now when I saw it I thought it'd be better than the Gibson PS2 SG. It looks cooler and I like it better when playing standing up but when sitting down on boring songs one of the edges jabs into my arms. Also, some of the original guitars came defective with the whammy bars. Apparently there are 2 kinds of guitars and the way to distinguish the good ones from the bad ones are where the Ethernet port is located. If it's next to the headset jack you got a good one if it's in the bottom then it's most likely defective. There's also a way to tell them apart from a number in the box. I, unluckily got the faulty one and the whammy bar feels kind of loose and not very whammish. They should have at least tested the guitars before releasing the game. The game also offers downloadable songs in the future which is an awesome idea. Another pretty great thing is a leader board function. While pretty nice it doesn't make up the fact there's no on line multi player or co-op play although lag could have ruined it Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 is a great game and so far the best rhythm game ever made. Is tons of fun and co-op with friends locally is great. It also has achievements for Experienced player. You may want to wait until this guitar whammy bar problem is fixed to purchase this game. For those who have it keep on rocking. SO MUCH BETTER THAN ROCK BAND Guitar Hero 2Reviewed by lxjordanxl on August 11, 2007 | report this review Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360 is the best iteration of the hit music rhythm game yet, but it's also an important addition to the Xbox 360 library. On a console dominated by shooters and action titles, it is one of the few titles that everyone can and will enjoy. RedOctane and Harmonix put their best foot forward with this release. The result is a port that adds enough content to make it worth a second look from the hardcore fans, especially with the downloadable songs, and a game that is put together so well that all newcomers should give it a try. It's a bit pricey at $90 and doesn't have the wireless guitar we all hoped for, but worth it. Great GameReviewed by EaglesDudeNFL on August 17, 2007 | report this review This is a AMAZING game. The songs chosen are perfect for it, and its not too easy to beat. If you have 2 guitars for it, it is a great game to play with against friends. Also, you can use a regular Xbox360 controller to play, but it is very hard. Also, if you beat all the songs in the game, there is a variety of songs you can download online. Even if Rock Band is going to be a MUCH better game when it comes out, this game is SO much cheaper. Fun for everyoneReviewed by DarkChaos319 on August 25, 2007 | report this review This is one of the best games the 360 has to offer. Although it seems hard at first with the hand-eye coordination, but you get better and better. Everyone can enjoy this game - your grandma, your sister, - whoever - it's just fun when you play! You feel a odd sense of reward when you hit the note - if you miss a note, the sound won't play. But if you hit it, (obviously) it makes the sound it should. You might be disappointed when you start with very few songs - but no fear. You can unlock songs by playing the Career mode. Easy limits the songs you can unlock, however - Medium makes it able to unlock all of them. Whenever you're at your level in Career, you're always "at the edge of your abilities". It levels up perfectly with you. Plug in 2 guitars for twice the fun! Go against each other in Face-Off, or team up for Co-Op. Pro-Face Off comes only when you beat Easy, though! You can buy songs in The Store in Career mode (with Virtual money, of course). You've probably never heard of the songs, but who cares! It's still fun. They have songs you might know - Thunderhorse by DEATHKLOK ([adult swim]), Trogdor by Strong Bad (homestarrunner.com). There's also Track Packs you can buy for real money - songs including You've Got Another Thing Comin' by Judas Priest, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, Teenagers, This Is How I Disappear, and Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance - the list goes on. These packs come with 3 songs each costing $6.25 per pack. All can enjoy Guitar Hero, and those who grew up with the 80's music can share their love of it with their relatives. This game is a must-buy and it's hard to resist! Guitar Hero 2Reviewed by Aaron117 on September 01, 2007 | report this review One of the Most fun and addicting games out there. Sweet GameReviewed by BIGDRO007 on December 12, 2007 | report this review Yea, when i first bought the game i did play it for hours, from like 6pm to 5am. Love this game so much, I'm gonna get 3, just as soon as i find it in a store or someone one this site lets me get it. OMG, So fun and addictive!!Reviewed by okidoki on December 12, 2007 | report this review This game rocks litterally, and it does it with an awesome song list. If you think it sucks go outside and smack yourself with a shovel. I couldn't put this game down when I played a demo at a local Wal-Mart. The songs are all covers but that doesn't stop you from trying to rock out loud. The only thing I think could improve is the guitar, It isn't quite long enough and, being a guitarist, it just didn't feel right. But still, this game looks amazing and can knock you off your feet. I tryed playing Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N' Roses on expert and i actually fell onto my couch. So i recomend if you have a 360 or PS2 go get this game imedietly. |
