PlayStation 2 » Kingdom Hearts » ReviewsWould have to be a heartless not to enjoy this game.Reviewed by latinman280 on September 28, 2006 | report this review At first the weird mixture of Square inspired character models mixed with beloved Disney characters seemed a bit weird to me. But once I played there was a lighthearted-ness to it all that Square's games had been missing for some time. This wasn't a game about saving the world, this was a game about friendship. Thankfully the whole game wasn't centered around this though because it would have made for overdose of sweetness. There's plenty of battling to do and plenty of hidden items to find, including new weapons and attacks. The amount of unlockables made this game one to enjoy even after I had beaten it. Plus the best villain in almost all gaming makes an appearance, Sephiroth. Great game for any RPG enthusiast. weird fusion, great gameReviewed by jtmanis on October 01, 2006 | report this review At first it seemed unusual for Disney and Square to create a game, but after time, I quickly grew to love it, anybody or anything will love this game. One of my favorites!Reviewed by aleah1030 on November 10, 2006 | report this review This game has beautifully rendered worlds, well-developed characters, and a lot of action! You can fight with a weapon, and you can use magic. The game incorporated just the right amount of cut-secnes and dialogue, and there was never a dull moment in this game for me. I really enjoyed being able to revisit past worlds and have the various Disney characters join the party (i.e. Tarzan, Peter Pan, Jack Skellington, Ariel, etc.) This is one of my all-time favorite games, and the only drawback (in my opinion) was having to use the gummy ship. Great gameReviewed by bajebba on November 14, 2006 | report this review This is a RPG that is great, I love this game, disney meets final fantasy how can you go wrong. Its way to good of an rpg to pass up. One of the greatest RPG's EVERReviewed by ferndaletiger on December 27, 2006 | report this review This game is quite simply awesome. If you enjoy disney characters, this game is for you. If you enjoy Square Enix RPG games, play this. When Disney + Square joined up...that equals Kingdom Hearts. And I'll admit it gave me a whole new sense of disney and it's beloved characters embedded in Square Enix's action RPG style. You fight as Sora with an awesome keyblade and fight a ton of evil creatures called the Heartless. While playing KH one can completely relive various Disney Worlds as though enjoying the movie itself. The CG movies are brilliantly done and the music is amazing and classic. You have to try this game out for yourself to see it's awesomeness. One of the best RPGs EVERReviewed by ferndaletiger on December 27, 2006 | report this review This game is quite simply awesome. Fantastic RPG, suitable for kids to watchReviewed by darco1 on January 11, 2007 | report this review This is a great game, as much fun as most of the Final Fantasy series has been, but also with elements that the kids will love - characters they recognize from many Disney movies (Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Tarzan, Mickey, Minnie, and others), but also for fans of Final Fantasy with some characters from the Final Fantasy series (Cid makes an appearance as an airship (gummiship!) expert, Yuffie's there, and others). Plus, the fighting is low key enough that I'm comfortable playing it in front of the young kids without scarring or scaring them. It does seem like a really strange idea at first, but the game is great fun to play, and the story is up to par with Square's other work. great gameReviewed by shannon729 on January 29, 2007 | report this review It's allot of fun to play and has good graphics and multiple capabilities. You can create your own ships to fly around in. It has a wholesomeness to it and all the Disney characters are always good. The Best Game EverReviewed by Boomermav on February 06, 2007 | report this review When I first got my PS2, I didn't play it much, but once I get this game, I started playing it all the time. It was once of the best games ever created. And then when Kingdom Hearts 2 came out, then I was a finatic. After beating the game I went out and bought Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII. All great games. the story lineReviewed by miah235 on March 17, 2007 | report this review the story line starts right from the get go, seriously all the way from destiny islands to the end of the world, great all the way, plus the ability to change your apperence between worlds is something i have yet to find in any other game, its just the right mix of final fantasy and disney Great Game over all!Reviewed by elephant246 on May 19, 2007 | report this review This game is full of great combat at every turn! I like that you have to gain exp to wield different things and you cant just automatically wield anything u want. The story line is great with tons of new characters and some from the Final Fantasy series, and plenty of classic disney characters like Mickey, Donald and Goofy. This game has great grafics and voice overs for all characters. The soundtrack is wonderful too! I downloaded the soundtrack to my mp3 player and i cant get enough of it. It has different difficulty settings and you choose which skills you are best at. If anyone finds anything wrong with this game plz tell me! 5 out of 5 for kingdom hearts and a strong recomendation to the rest of the series as well! actionReviewed by dante xx2 on June 08, 2007 | report this review this game has tons of action and it really brings out a little fantasy mixed with an rpg mainly the charecters a usually being funny like daffy and goofy but in this game they are being serious and actually fighting and talking witch is really nice. An Excellent RPG Game that breaks t3h moldReviewed by Heixn-IxI on June 10, 2007 | report this review I've beat this game and unlocked everything that this game has. It is one of the best games for the PS2. Maybe not as awesome as Halo or God Of War, it's still an awesome game.
Pros: Great graphics for a game during that time.
Cons: Somewhat repetitive attacks and spells.
Your not a true PS2 gamer if you haven't played this. The Beginning Of a Great SeriesReviewed by Kejax on June 28, 2007 | report this review Kingdom Hearts startede when a man who helped create the final fantasy series had an idea combining that world with the disney world. When he met one of the reps for disney in an elevator they had a little talk about this. After a couple years of creativity and hard work Kingdom Hearts came out. The experience was like none other i had played before. As a kid it felt like i was in the game. When in destiny islands it was just a great way for the player to want to just go out and go on your own journey. The story was amazing and held up to disneys genius. The combination of characters from the final fantasy world and the disney world were also pleasing for all players. Since the enemies had their own unique and even funny movements or attacks made up for the fact tthere was over a hundred to be take care of. When it came to bosses, the legion of bad guys made suspense appearing in cut scenes when you didnt expect it. When battling them they were all unique. They all came with there own challenges and some even seeming impossible like sephiroth but none the less it felt great to beat a boss because the player felt like they actually struggled each time. If im not mistaken there was only two modes but if you start at the easy one and play again on the harder one they were basically the same. Between world "costumes" that change and the many keyblades also gave you the sense that the character was yours. The keyblades made me want to get to the next world because most of them were cool and helpful with there own abilities. Considering how many cut scenes and work that went into the game the few slip ups in animation were forgettable and still gave a great experience all together. its an awesome gameReviewed by bigboychan on July 09, 2007 | report this review i dont see why anyone woudlnt like this game ive beat the game plenty of times and im still not bored of it yet i wish i could say the same for the second one its just not as good as this one. Longlasting and GREAT!!Reviewed by mythology979 on July 16, 2007 | report this review I have played plenty of Role Play games, but none of them can add up to this one. I've played every single Final Fantasy game, and none of them were nearly as good. This game is great because it can take you 2 months to a year to beat. THE FUN NEVER STOPS! Also, the final battle is the most amazing battle that you will find in any video game. I also think that kingdom hearts is WAY better than the second one. If your looking for a great game to play for the next few months definitly choose Kingdom Hearts. I got a playstation 2 just for this gameReviewed by embalming_flui on August 25, 2007 | report this review Man, was it well worth it, I just don't even know where to start with, it just all so good, CG cut scenes, sound, music, story line! the ONLY and i mean ONLY - was it was too short! it would take about 24 hours to beat, so about a week if you play it in chunks. CLASSIC !!!Reviewed by spencethmn on October 21, 2007 | report this review Is Kingdom Hearts an unlikely success, or is it actually the biggest sure thing in this generation of videogames? After all, while the concept is one that raises a few eyebrows at first glance -- a Square-styled fantasy adventure starring almost nothing but Disney cartoon characters? -- the potential of the idea starts to show through. And Square has indeed realized vast amounts of that potential, using the wealth of characters available here and applying industry-leading production values to create an amazing entertainment. To be sure, this is a game that succeeds in spite of its flaws. It succeeds in spite of some of the biggest flaws that a game has ever succeeded in spite of. It has a 3D camera that has to be seen to be believed, and a difficulty level tilted well beyond what players are probably expecting from what has been pegged as a "kid's game." There are times when even dedicated gamers and RPG fans will grow quite painfully frustrated, and that's even before getting to the really nasty bits. But what a wealth of character this game has! Designs new and are brought to life by brilliant 3D modeling and animation, creating perhaps the most effective rendition of a cartoon world on a console, and while there's plenty of lighthearted humor in evidence, the subject matter is often pitched at quite a serious level. Both halves of the unlikely pair have contributed the best they have to offer, and the result is something that will hopefully take hold enough for it to receive the audience it deserves. A real neat take on DisneyReviewed by maisymousey on October 25, 2007 | report this review I'm just a sucker for Donald Duck and Squaresoft so how could i not like it? It's great for all ages! Even those who aren't into RPGs would enjoy this. I think the story line was just awesome and the mini games were classic. My favorite part was going to the book of Pooh, was that not precious? The camera is my only complaint but other than that the upsides to the game are endless. Smooth storyline, excellent bosses, cameos, humor to boot this game will keep you thrilled and busy for the next wee while. Anybody that likes RPG's and a story with an actual plot I definetly recommend this game.Ok, well, you don't have to like both, but any Final Fantasy or Disney fan would love this game. GibbersnooshReviewed by krazy_kl on January 01, 2008 | report this review This game is trully amazing. It has my favorite characters from final fantasy and disney!
