Best game for psp, no question!

I've been anticipating this game ever since the rumor about VCS was released. Day by day I've been counting down to Halloween, the day when I can finally pick up VCS and play it for the first time. I have to admit I felt a little disappointed in the beginning mainly because the story started off pretty weak. I didn't feel the 80's Vice City vibe which was a turn off. However, once I got deeper into the storyline the game got a whole a lot better and my usual gta addiction began. The game is much sharper than LCS or the original Vice CIty. Rockstar did a good job using the power of lighting to set the mood. The new orange sunsets and dark nights brings Vice City to life.

Everything looks extremely sharp, especially on that crystal clear PSP screen. If you are a GTA fan and you've played LCS, you'll be able to get used to the controls on the get-go. Driving and character movement is pretty much the same however there has been some major additions to the gameplay. First off, the fighting system has been revamped. That's right...you can grap, throw, perform a K.O., punch jabs, knee, and more.

Swimming has finally been added and it works nicely. You can't dive underneath the water like in San Andreas but the water isn't a death trap any longer. What may anger some people is the fact that you only can stay in the water for about 1 minute and 30 seconds before your lungs burst. Getting out of the water can be a pain in the ass if you aren't near a shoreline or if the walls are too high to get onto. But when you can get out of the water you have to press square to hop out.

The key highlights for me were the radio (it may be better than the VC soundtrack) and Empire Building. If you only stick to the main storyline it may take you about 15 hours. However, I've been spending a lot of time with Empire Building which is a great new way to control Vice City. I better finish up my review...Aircraft is great, multiplayer ifs fantastic once again, and VCS is the best PSP game available right now.

Consoles might be overflowing with Grand Theft Auto clones, but on the PSP, the original is still king. And while imitators like The Godfather and Scarface have been reduced to lame exercises in turn-based strategy, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories reasserts the series' dominance with another sprawling, open-world crime spree.

Set in 1984 (two years before GTA: Vice City), Vice City Stories stars Victor Vance, a career soldier who's set up for a fall by his commanding officer and kicked out of the army. Vic's a decent guy, but when circumstances (and his idiot brother Lance) force him into a life of crime, he gradually goes from upstanding citizen to reluctant kingpin.

**Since this the second (and last?) Grand Theft Auto game for the PSP so I will compare it to that one.**

The game is based in Vice City, a fictional Miami, in 1984. The game is based around a solider named Victor Vance who, after being framed by his commanding officer for having drugs and bringing a prostitute onto the army base, is kicked out of the army. He soon gets into trouble with some gangs, becomes involved into his employer's struggling marriage, and Victor's brother gets him involved into his problems with the notorious Mendez brothers.

The storyline was kinda dull but it is very hard not to enjoy it or become attached to it. It is a very long story mode, but after the story is done, there is still the business empire you can accomplish but it becomes very repetitive after a while. The missions at these empires and the side missions are also repetitive. But for those of you who love to cause mayhem, killing people for example, you won't be disappointed.

The graphics in this game are great but if you have a fast car, or any car, you can drive faster then it takes the UMD to load the image, which is frustrating when you can 't see where you are or the cars around you. It is also weird when you purchase a business and you get stuck in the ground as the building loads up.

As far as gameplay goes, there is many cars, boats, helicopters, and small planes to steal from, many weapons, lots of space (although I think that Liberty City is more spread out, which could make it bigger)

As for lasting appeal, I think that you would enjoy the story mode, which could take 12-15 hours to complete, upgrading your health, armor, speed, swimming abilities, taking over every business empire; this could take over 40 hours to complete, for new timers.

This game is very fun, however after completing story mode once, there is no need to repeat it again. For those who have played Liberty City or played other GTA games before, you are not missing that much, but for newcomer s, even after you finish, you would come back to this game for years. (unless GTA: San Andreas Stories comes out; not happening.) I do think that the 30 points offered for this game is too much; it's cheaper at the store. I do recommend this game.

Good game overall

This is a great game. I love how they took vice city and moved it around a little bit for this game. The only main issue i have is the controls. They are way to sensitive. Be careful when driving a car or trying to target an enemy. The slightest move will send you off course. Other than that i truly believe there should be more GTA psp games.

So much to do!

There is so much to do in this game. For PSP, the campaign is quite long. The only stutter is if you're driving fast the scenery may not load in time, which can cause multiple problems. Also, cars OFTEN disappear from your safehouse, and you will see like 1000 of one car at a time, but nothing else. Despite all this, it's magnificent!
