Assassin's Creed is simply a great game.

This games is simply awesome. It just never seems to get old. There isn't really a whole lot of variety, but the gameplay is very fun. Your job is to assassinate evil-doers as efficiently as possible. That means eliminating your target and disappearing before anyone else notices. You are able to climb and jump off of just about everything and the graphics are beautiful. The only complaint I can make is that there are some very slow parts in the game and some seemingly pointless sections, but they are short. You should definitely check this one out!

Fun game, But gets a little Repetitive

Well, I'll just get this out and this game is Unbelievable. It's one of the nicest looking game out there. Later on in the game you will notice that you're doing the same thing over and over. I still recommend this game as it's one of the best in my collection.

Great Game, but a bit sketchy

Reviewed by justin32903 on January 29, 2008  |  report this review

This has to be one of my favorite games of all time. When i first got the game i was overwhelmed by the gameplay, the graphics and the ability to freerun anywhere. It is an unbelievable game. Although it has its high points, there are certain things that need work. Throughout the entire game there are cutscenes so long you will feel like time has ceased going. These cutscenes get very unbearable. Also there are only 9 missions/assassinations. Which is the most fun of the game, so i think the makers of the game missed the whole point of a game when they made you run around and do 3 menial tasks before allowing you to assassinate anyone. Also, the beggars are annoying, the helpless citizens get on your nerves, and the soldiers will attack you if you do anything out of the ordinary (running, jumping, climbing, etc...) Still this is one of my favorite games and i recommend it!

assassins creed has amazing graphics, mechanics, gameplay, storyline, etc. it will keep you busy for hours. there is lots of freedom and a plethora of moves and attacks. you can climb, jump, hide in hay, ride horses, dive off tall places, etc, etc. the plot is cool because its like you're reliving a memory from an ancestor. during the cutscenes when a cue comes up you can change your point of view with the squaree button which is new and different. multi player would have been interesting but i can imagine itwould be too complicated. oh well. still an amazing game but it should have been a PS3 exclusive

Redundant at best

Initially, I really got into this game. I'm currently renting it through my gamefly membership and I was actually considering buying it. That is, until about the 4th time I ended up falling off the map. Yes, the game is visually stunning and Yes, the story line is easy to get immersed in. But if I have to sit there and either want for myself to die or just restart the ENTIRE MAP (Where is the option to manually restart from last checkpoint. Oh wait... it's not there!) every time I fall off the map because I jumped from one building to the next and caught the ledge wrong... I'll throw this game at my neighbor's dog. Also, I wish there was a way to fast forward through some... better yet... ALL of the cinematic sequences. Think about it... if you meet up with an informant and screw up the first go round, do you really want to go back to him and hear his blather just to start the mission over again?

Oh and by the way, I've seen and played this game on Xbox 360 and again, this is yet another game that displays and outlines the shortcomings of the PS3 by comparison. I know the format war was won by the Sony camp but still... they need to get their sh*t in gear and start putting out games that actually utilize the power and graphical processing prowess the PS3 has to offer. Notice that Altaïr's long flowing cape is basically going straight through anything he's perched upon?? Next time you play this game and get up to a viewpoint, watch how in the cut scene his clothes are hanging down poking through the platform you're perched upon.

It's little crap like this that lets me know the PS3 still isn't ready for prime time. This game was a nice try and good direction but the method and properties of delivering it to the user might have needed a little more thought before release.

This is a remarkable game and has set new standards for upcoming games. Visually this game is the best on the market as of march 08 still much room for improvment as the game becomes so repetative it almost ruins its self, by the time it comes to the last boss your already flying rouns like your spider man and its simple one button press for the kill. Annoying when your in such a near perfect game. My advice definetley buy it get it complete and sell it on! or rent!

Obviously I love this game.

In case it isn't obvious from looking at my avatar, I'm a huge ninja fan (actually I love martial arts period) so Assassin's Creed gets high marks from me based simply on that fact. However, what truly makes a game a winner is not only it's subject matter, but it's gameplay, graphics, control, storyline, and characters.

Assassin's Creed has all of these elements and manages to do a nice job of blending them all into a cohesive and entertaining game. You take on the role of the present day Desmond Miles who has been reluctantly "recruited" into an experimental time program called the Animus Project whereby you are essentially mind linked with your medieval day ancestor Altair lbn La-Ahad ("Son of None").

You start out by learning to navigate this new world you've been thrust into and eventually how to take on missions of assassination. You learn how to blend, use your "Eagle Vision", and perform other combat and stealth based moves needed to carry out these missions.

The storyline flows nicely, the graphics are simply some of the most beautiful pieces of eye candy I've ever seen, and once you learn the controls you'll find that they are quite fluid. While this game isn't Metal Gear Solid 4 I'm sure that it will be just as memorable in the years to come.

So I DEFINITELY recommend adding this game to your gaming library. Must Have game.

You'll take on a number of assassination missions throughout the game. You will also be tasked with freeing innocent citizens, obtaining information, and completing errands and favors for NPCs that will facilitate your quest. The world of Assassin's Creed is primarily based in the 12th century Middle East, during the Third Crusade. It's an expansive world that will take you through many ancient and beautiful cities. Upon entering any new region, it's important to first climb the tallest building marked by an eagle flying over head in order to synchronize your map and GPS system. Once this is done, you'll be able to easily locate points of interest throughout the level. Secondly, before an assassination can be made, you must obtain information by eaves-dropping from a nearby bench, direct interrogation, pick-pocketing unsuspecting marks, and doing favors for informants. Finally, once you have acquired the requisite information you can proceed to the assassin bureau leader to complete your deadly mission.

Altair is a stealthy character who blends into a crowd easily. He does so by keeping a low-profile. This is the default action set for his movements. If the situation dictates a more direct approach, switching into high-profile mode will allow you to sprint, grab, and attack. This is achieved by activating the right trigger. Selecting weapons is a breeze via the quick inventory that is mapped to the D-pad. The four face buttons control your head, weapon hand, empty hand, and legs. Specific actions are mapped to each button, and they vary depending on whether you're in low or high-profile mode. Running up the face of buildings, fighting enemies, and even riding horses is a joy due to the excellent control scheme. The left trigger simply targets enemies and also, while in the midst of battle, you can enter a defensive position, ready to block oncoming attacks. All in all, the controls are very good without a particularly steep learning curve.

The storyline is just freakin cool. It kinda reminded me of the late great author Michael Crichton's Timeline. Yeah, the movie sucked, blah blah blah, but it felt similar. I really hated all the freakin crashes in this game, but it is still pretty cool. Have yet to finish it, but I have heard it is too short.
